I am jewish by birth, raised Christian and live agnostic

All the ancient Rabbis knew that the messiah had to die and suffer. The book of Zechariah says that the messiah will come lowly riding on a donkey, but the book of Daniel says that the messiah will have a glorious coming from the sky. It’s clear that there are two aspects of the messiah. If he isn’t the messiah, then we have no messiah.
