The AE map only works for half the world lol . Everything to the south of the equator line doesn’t work. Because in reality longitude lines converge again in the south as they should on a sphere

there are issues with the AE map yes but it is more accurate than the globe

You can’t project a globe on a flat surface without distortion hence why there are so many different projection maps. If the earth is flat you wouldn’t need a projection. You could just map it without distortions easy
