what was your issue with the fig tree @floris
It wasn’t an issue, I just found it mildly funny, and I was just trying to wrap my head around why Jesus would act like that
Since from my perspective it was kinda...rude to expect a tree to produce fruit in the off season
But idk
He was giving a lesson that if you bear no good fruit you will die
Is that so?
Everything Jesus did had a meaning
That’s not how I interpreted what he said after
"Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."
Yeah, forgiveness is a good fruit
Anyway it’s just one of the smaller bits of the Bible I vaguely remember from primary school
lucky. I wasn't taught the bible ever. I was raised atheist
I went from jew to atheist to agnostic to theist to Christian
wild ride
I kept looking for answers at one point
And the truth was Jesus.
If I could explain my position, I do not believe that religion is bad in of itself, but neither is not believing in anything. I believe religion, especially in the past, was crucial in survival, teaching important lessons in forgiveness, kindness and empathy and patience. I myself am technically “Buddhist”, but I do not pray to the gods-I simply watch what I consume. I do believe the lessons of forgiveness are incredibly important in Christianity, as another example.
I suppose you could say I have a rather liberal view on religion.
That sounds new agey
New age is satanic
We had bible lessons in my first 6 years of school and the teachers where incredible forceful to push beliefs to everyone
>forgiveness not incredibly important
whatchu mean?
What
I didn’t say that
She said they are
what did u mean
I said that they were-
oh
i see now
Lol
S’fine
sorry i'm just a simple Christian
Anyway, my issue is when the interpretations of religion starts to stray from what good morals it tries teach, such as forgiveness, and kindness, and act in violence and wish violence on others. Perhaps you believe it’s satanic, but that is simply my view.
