We don’t have time for that. Capitalism is not going to be able to reduce carbon emissions fast enough to avert the most significant effects. As long as there’s oil and gas in ground people are gonna wanna take it out and burn it. And car manufacturers know in current economy they can still make tons of money selling less efficient cheaper to produce cars. Manufacturers are gonna hop onto renewables unless they can see an immediate profit incentive or are forced to.

If we don’t force them to stop eventually, businesses will 100% keep extracting oil and gas and burning it until we’ve used up all the oil. If that happens, the climate is already kinda fucked. There is no profit incentive for choosing to keep it in the ground
