You can see in the lense flare the sun behind the sun we see ,both as reflections or lense flares

The sun appears to be a reflection ...focused
The clouds can get in the way of the focus and wash the sun or distort it's shape

Notice e how the green dot lense flare in the bottom pic is the same size as the sun in the top pic

They was both taken withinin minutes of each other
The clouds must be where the sun's focus terminates,at given location ,however if we go high that focus changes somehow and it pushes the sun back up visually ?

Looked into it and it very old and the explanation I heard or what they labelled it as many years ago ,was like a boat

With a concave mirror you can create a secondary image
