ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
One person has died after the occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire Thursday afternoon on a busy road near the University of Central Florida campus, police said.
Officials with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said gunfire was exchanged between people in two vehicles on Alafaya Trail, just north of Colonial Drive around 1 p.m.

One of the vehicles involved crashed near the RaceTrac gas station on Alafaya Trail.
Deputies said the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment, but did not survive. The passenger was not hurt and has been taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities are still searching for the other vehicle involved in the shootout. Deputies said it is a white, four-door Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows and bullet holes on the driver’s side.
UCF police said the people involved do not have any connection to UCF and said they do no believe there is any threat to the campus.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
