About an hour ago, dozens of tow trucks gathered in northeast Houston to prepare to lead the funeral procession for tow truck driver Curtis Martin. Martin was murdered earlier this month after his tow truck was stolen and used in a pursuit with authorities.

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLFI) -- A Lafayette man believed to have ties with a Mexican cartel is going to prison.


Rafael Ramirez, 37, pleaded guilty to in the Northern Indiana district of federal court to two charges: Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Heroin, and Illigal Alien in Possession of a Firearm.

Court documents say Ramirez was an organizer for a Mexican cartel. Investigators say he coordinated deliveries for 30 to 90 kilograms of heroin.

He was sentenced in federal court today to twelve years in prison.
