Sin is a nonsense word.

2020-10-03 17:27:27 UTC

@JPMcGlone what do you mean by sin

2020-10-03 17:37:12 UTC

Sin is what separates people from God, and the reward of sin is death. I commit sin when I disobey God's will and break His laws.

2020-10-03 17:38:14 UTC

Sin (from Latin peccatum) is an act, fact, word, thought, or omission to do good, contrary to what a particular religion considers to be the will of God. It consists in the violation of a law or a church order, a deviation from a religious norm, an iniquity, a guilty act, a mistake, a guilt. Sin means a violation of God's laws, a violation of the connection with him and his neighbor.

2020-10-03 17:39:05 UTC

You may or may not agree, but that is a Sin from a theological perspective.

@Katelyn 2 main points:

Your point about hormone tweaking is well taken, however we must acknowledge that that can relate to a whole range of mental disorders. People can suffer from anorexia due to brain chemistry and their diet, which can affect their hormones and cause a negative feedback loop. If only we could tweak certain hormones, perhaps they wouldn't have a warped image of their body. But it doesn't mean they don't have a disconnect from reality. In other areas of their life, people with disorders can be completely functional. But concerning this one specific area (for anorexics, weight, for transgenders, genitalia) they don't see the world as it is.

Also, any study which brings up identical twins raised separately is not as credible as we'd like it to be. The sample size has historically been so tiny that any findings can be happenstance. Possible, but not statistically significant.

Lets hop in vc :)

2020-10-03 17:44:41 UTC

@Yussuki ₪ zino. my god says that sin doesn't exist. What say you?

2020-10-03 17:46:13 UTC

My God demands I sin twice a week.

2020-10-03 17:46:19 UTC

I would say you should trust your God. You can always repent if you happen to meet mine when you get to be in Spirit. A loyal believer in good faith is always better than an opportunistic one.

2020-10-03 17:46:54 UTC

Zino. So this is functional atheism?? 😂 😂

2020-10-03 17:47:30 UTC

No, Mala, it's Christian Orthodoxy. We understand the weaknesses of man. 😄

2020-10-03 17:47:48 UTC

What if you meet my god, and she's pissed that you didn't make the most out of your life?

2020-10-03 17:48:02 UTC

*shots fired*

2020-10-03 17:48:12 UTC

She's like. You didn't eat pig? Why do you think I made bacon?!?

2020-10-03 17:48:25 UTC

*missiles launched*

2020-10-03 17:49:10 UTC

Gotta get going. Ciao

2020-10-03 17:49:19 UTC

Bye

2020-10-03 17:49:37 UTC

Since she is just, she will not punish a devoted believer anyway. Ignorance shall be my excuse.

@Katelyn

Hi. That was food for thought and I am open to hearing more scientific arguments, for sure!, but I have to say I've yet to hear one that sorts this conundrum out.

What's more, it looks to me that the term "trans" covers too many different situations to be a qualifiable group in scientific studies, at least as it currently stands.

Re the mice, I'm curious whether the same experiment and same logic might mean you're saying lesbians are really men? Homosexuality doesn't exist?

Re the twins, I think that genetics could very well be the cause in some cases and not in others. But it is just conjecture at the moment, so little evidence.

Re the brain, I'm very sceptical about brain studies in general.

@Delta

For example. Anti abortionist are literally anti American from the Doi perspectice

2020-10-04 17:34:39 UTC

“Sin” is that which leads to no good.
Some are obvious, like murder. Others are less obvious, like cutting off your genitals, apparently.

2020-10-04 17:35:04 UTC

There are few good reasons to cut off your genitals. And people doing it today don’t meet the criteria. They are just sick

2020-10-04 17:35:57 UTC

You can be anti abortion without being religious

2020-10-04 17:36:00 UTC

It’s not hard

2020-10-04 17:36:18 UTC

I’d wager most of the founding fathers would be pro-life

2020-10-04 17:36:55 UTC

Like I said. Natural Law is capitalized. It had a Very specific meaning.

2020-10-04 17:37:31 UTC

I'm going on a hike. Back much later

2020-10-04 17:37:39 UTC

Also the vast majority of Americans are fine with our system of government. It is a small, but very violent and loud minority rioting and violating other people’s rights. The DOI is not in favor of rights violations.

2020-10-04 17:37:41 UTC

Aight

2020-10-04 17:38:06 UTC

Later. Please go look up natural rights. And re read the doi

2020-10-04 17:38:16 UTC

Not necessary

2020-10-04 17:40:03 UTC

Ok. Then apply it?

2020-10-04 17:40:16 UTC

Or for real

2020-10-04 17:40:23 UTC

Out*

2020-10-04 17:42:45 UTC

Okay well you’ll have this to respond to when you return.

The DOI certainly gives the people the right to revolt. It does not give people the right to violate the rights of other. The current riots basically just do that, burning property and attacking people are rights violations. The DOI is opposed to the actual actions being taken rn

2020-10-04 17:46:25 UTC

My gf is taking a bit.
Yes. The violation of property rights is not cool.
But the right to revolt is protected, ideologically. The problem is that the doi is not a legal document

2020-10-04 17:47:08 UTC

It's all very muddy
