Eventually, the trooper determined it was best to remove the orange straps and put him into handcuffs. As the ties were removed, NHP says Bonnar "sprang to life" and started to resist, pulling and twisting his arms. Witnesses were able to help the trooper place the handcuffs onto Bonnar.
The drivers told NHP that Bonnar had been combative and to be careful of him spitting. Bonnar would not respond to NHP trooper's questions.
Due to his combative behavior, NHP placed Bonnar in the rear of a patrol SUV. His legs were also restrained to prevent further injury. Troopers arrested Bonnar for DUI based off his driving characteristics, red bloodshot eyes, mood swings and odor of an unknown intoxicating beverage.
Bonnar did not speak much to troopers besides saying once at the Clark County Detention Center that he missed his wife, while sobbing.
Troopers found an AR-15 in his vehicle, along with an empty bottle of Smirnoff and a pill bottle for Celecoxib, a prescription pain reliever.
A records check found that Bonnar had two previous DUI arrests, one in April 2015 and another in June 2016. He also had a criminal history of battery and domestic battery charges.
Bonnar spent many years with the UFC and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2013.

LAS VEGAS - An Arizona man has been arrested on a charge that he showed undercover officers -- during a sting operation -- how to make explosive devices in Las Vegas, according to a federal complaint.
Ahmad Suhad Admad, who was born in 1988, had traveled from Tucson to Las Vegas in the spring of 2017.
He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday but his public defender asked for a continuance.
According to the complaint, Ahmad is accused of texting bomb-making instructions that were written in Arabic and instructing the undercover officers on assembling bombs while at a Las Vegas condominium and April 26, 2017.
"Over the course of several hours, Ahmad built the device and described what he was doing to one of the undercover agents. Ahmad showed one of the agents how to connect the blasting caps and where to place the C-4," the complaint said.
The undercover officer claimed he wanted to use the bombs against a target in Mexico.
Ahmad told the informant that he learned to detonate explosives during the war in Iraq and he knew how to detonate one by using a cellular phone with a removable cellular battery.
He's listed in records as a U.S. citizen.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is pushing back on suggestions that the move to send thousands of active-duty troops to the Southwest border is a political stunt ahead of the midterm elections next week.
Mattis told reporters Wednesday at the Pentagon that the deployment of more than 5,200 troops is based on a request from the Department of Homeland Security. He says, "We don't do stunts in this department."
An estimated 4,000 Central American migrants in a caravan have been walking across Mexico toward the U.S. border. Mattis authorized the deployment of the active-duty troops, and 2,000 to 3,000 additional forces have been told to prepare to deploy if needed.
The forces are largely providing airlift transportation, tents, barriers and other logistical support for the Border Patrol.
Worn down from long miles of walking and frustrated by the slow progress, many migrants have been dropping out of the caravan and returning home or applying for protected status in Mexico.

About 100 undocumented immigrants looking for shelter made it into El Paso. People clapped and cheered as the immigrants arrived. Their arrival stems from a new policy in which ICE said it no longer has the resources to hold immigrants awaiting asylum, so it is releasing them into the community.
