Very few will even now admit that robots will take almost all the jobs in the next ten years. Even seeing self check out and so many other robots already removing thousands of jobs. Walmart alone down 47,000 jobs due to robots and other artificial intelligence devices.

I was a Computer Programmer for 50 years.

Learned it in fifth grade originally. About the only one in the schools I went to back then that even knew what it was.

To freak you out many of the people in the High School dropped out to go to work and get married and have children. Easy to do back then. Their wife would never need to go to work just raise children.

Minimum wage or near it was enough back then with a single income to have a family. But back then it was easy to work for 50 or more hours a week with time and a half overtime for every hour over 40.

This is quite good to explain why NASA can have so many employees but almost none of them know the earth is flat.
