Mason and Dixon Line. Mason and Dixon Line, also called Mason-Dixon Line, originally the boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania in the United States. In the pre-Civil War period it was regarded, together with the Ohio River, as the dividing line between slave states south of it and free-soil states north of it.
Damnit it 😄 Maryland just doesn't feel "South".. then again.. Half of Florida doesn't either

Maryland is south of the line, in “Dixie” and is considered a southern state. Maryland was a slave state before the Civil War but stayed with the union, in part because the federal government arrested Maryland state delegates who were prepared to vote for succession. However, the sentiments in the state were divided.
