Brooks County judge charged with felony, misdemeanor offenses

A judge in Brooks County now faces criminal charges after being arrested following an ongoing investigation.

Police confirmed that County Judge Imelda Barrera was arrested on Tuesday, June 19 after an investigation by the Falfurrias Police Department and Texas Rangers.

Judge Barrera now faces charges of tampering with evidence, a felony offense; criminal mischief, and resisting arrest, both misdemeanor offenses.

She reportedly bonded out of jail within 24 hours of her arrest.

No other details about the case had been released at time of writing. We'll provide further updates as soon as we're able.
