Ian Perlmutter is the nephew of Ed Perlmutter, a six-term Arvada Democrat representing Colorado's 7th Congressional District. Earlier this week, the lawmaker's office confirmed the relation but declined to comment.

Police are searching for a woman who was speaking with the nephew of Rep. Ed Perlmutter just hours before he was hit and killed by a train in downtown Louisville last week.

According to the Louisville Police Department, around 3 a.m. on June 16, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train was headed northbound through downtown Louisville.
