A 19-year-old woman is dead and two other victims have been hospitalized Wednesday morning following a triple shooting overnight in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
The shooting occurred around midnight as the victims were standing outside amid a group of people near the intersection of South Western Avenue and West 91st Street, Los Angeles Police Department Detective Chris Barling said.
A man apparently walked up to the group and fired multiple rounds, striking a 19-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man and a 41 year-old woman, Barling said.
The 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews transported the other woman and the man to a local hospital with what were believed to be survivable injuries, Barling said.
The group was apparently attending a pre-Fourth of July BBQ when the gunman arrived and opened fire.
Investigators do not have a motive for the shooting but do believe the shooter, described only as a man in his late teens or early 20s, had some sort of gang affiliation.
None of the victims had any gang ties, Barling said.
The suspect ran to a nearby vehicle and drove away after the shooting. Investigators did not have a description of the vehicle.
Authorities plan to check nearby businesses for any surveillance video.

A man was arrested in a string of Irvine arsons, authorities said on Tuesday.

Imran Saaduddin Ahmad, 39, of Irvine was arrested in connection with setting four fires in the general area of Bryan and Yale Avenues between Sunday and Tuesday, Irvine police spokesperson Kim Mohr said.
The original call was that something on fire was thrown into the yard, Mohr said.
Damage was ânot huge,â Mohr said, and surveillance video helped find the suspect who was arrested on Tuesday.
Ahmad is currently being held in Orange County Central Menâs Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to Orange County Sheriffâs Department inmate information.
The video and exact addresses will not be released, Mohr said.
