2019-08-23 00:22:41 UTC

People going nuts over Trump saying he was chosen even I knew it was taken out of context

2019-08-23 00:22:45 UTC

Common sense took a back seat

2019-08-23 00:23:53 UTC

He was chosen.... by the Electoral College

2019-08-23 00:24:12 UTC

It does enrage me as an American that those we trusted in office wanted to sell our country out

2019-08-23 00:29:07 UTC

Appeals Court ruled today that Electors can vote they way they want...and don't have to follow the popular vote.

2019-08-23 00:29:34 UTC

Hope that will work in Trumps favour

2019-08-23 00:29:53 UTC

Its the way it was designed to work

2019-08-23 00:31:21 UTC

2019-08-23 00:31:34 UTC

@Qbritan(Uk) here land owners are suppose to be the Electors......for decades the R/D has assigned them...completely unconstitutional at the state level.

2019-08-23 00:32:15 UTC

so this is reversing that trend am I right ?

2019-08-23 00:33:41 UTC

I thought it was to keep "high population" (ie big city) from having its way to much control of geographic areas in other parts of the country. Ie popular vote (by population density) could force candinates favoring them on those who do not have a chance to vote a canidate.

2019-08-23 00:33:42 UTC

Not at all....just a sliver basically confirming that Electors are not tied to the popular vote to cast their ballot. This only applies to POTUS/VP elections

2019-08-23 00:36:56 UTC

The Electoral College begins at the county level where Electors are appointed, They go to a state college that selects the amongst them the State Electors that go to the U.S. Congress to vote. You are basically right @kazzoo , I am referring to the process not the reason for the Electoral College.

2019-08-23 00:38:44 UTC

The Electors are never bound to vote one way or another. The progressives were attempting to assign votes to the popular vote.

2019-08-23 00:40:56 UTC

The number of Electors a State gets is equal to the number of Reps and Senators a State has.
