well our priests
our priests through our bishops have apostolic succesion
just like the Catholic Church
Told them that if they can not forgive one another they have no buisness taking communion
leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:24
Shoul dman be able to judge who gets communion though?
one should search his own soul
if he can not forgive he should not commune according to matt 5:24
first make peace with your brother
I feel like the line of communion should not be dictated by mans authority
its not mans authority
as man is flawed and will try to institute his own authority over God's
again, i'm refering to matt 5:24
and the need to take Communion seriously... it's not McDonalds
just seems like an awful lot of temptation to be given over and over again
one has to preapre self with prayer, fasting, and confession, at least in our Church
certainly at some point the preithood will lose thier way ond go off the path
We will never ben perfect
be sad if the flock was forced to go with them
our flaws are our hope
When I say that about Communion I'm not talking about the priest excommunicating a guilty party , i'm talking about examination of our own conscience.
thats the problem i have with rituals, over time they tend to devolve into idolatry
for He is the way and the light
1 Corinthians 11:29-31 King James Version (KJV)
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
St Paul is talking about Communion here
in our Tradition we MUST take it very seriously as we believe it is the Body and Blood of our Lord
I think communion shoul dbe done in private
the public communion is too much temptation to sin
peer pressure etc
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 1 Corinthians 6:15
The redemption of the prostitute is proof of God's grace
this isn't just talking about "prostitutes"
mans perception of social adherence is in itself a sin
one o fpride
this is talking about the fact that by falling into sin, we make the temple of the holy spirit (our body) into a prostitute
th emost deceptive of temptations
i agree
which is why I like private communion
For us communion is never private.... You are uniting yourself to God and to one another.
