start with judicial act of ?1889?,

Generally congress provided jurisdiction for treason and other high crimes to the military courts, u don't see these in the federal courts i.e district and appeals.

The military courts are "styled" after "Admiralty law" or law of the seas.

Good to know. I’m doing more research on these tribunals, as many will probably have questions when they become public.
