There were too many going at once. I’m not sure who’s still here.
Rollcall?

2019-08-13 03:30:53 UTC

@kreskin1 u were talking about NASA

2019-08-13 03:31:12 UTC

u & me @kreskin1

2019-08-13 03:31:29 UTC

Yes. Pockets of brilliance.

2019-08-13 03:31:48 UTC

SpaceX was a big stink hole transfer of tech and $

2019-08-13 03:32:31 UTC

They’re in it for the money. They tend to work the employees hard and not pay as well as others.

2019-08-13 03:32:55 UTC

Musk doesn’t do anything without a government subsidy.

2019-08-13 03:33:12 UTC

basically huge grants of $ from Gov with tech. transfer..no real limit on keeping sensitive stuff sensitive.

2019-08-13 03:33:54 UTC

A philosophy they put forth was that you were there because you loved the space rocket thing. And would sacrifice time and $ to fulfill your dreams.

2019-08-13 03:34:21 UTC

I never worked for them, but heard from others.

2019-08-13 03:34:39 UTC

officially they are not grants or ocntracts...they are Other.

2019-08-13 03:35:40 UTC

i worked outside of them, they were buying tech.

2019-08-13 03:35:41 UTC

NASA didn’t care for them because NASA liked their normal oversight and Space X would invite them only for their mandatory inspections and meetings.

2019-08-13 03:36:21 UTC

That was a good way for them to keep the costs low.

2019-08-13 03:36:49 UTC

SpaceX invited whoever they wanted...didn't appear to be a lid on things unless mgmt had a bug for some reason.

2019-08-13 03:37:16 UTC

I couldn't figure out any rules they used with any consistency.

2019-08-13 03:37:36 UTC

and they were immune for any liability.

2019-08-13 03:37:57 UTC

The best thing they were able to do was bring back the cores for reuse.

2019-08-13 03:38:36 UTC

All others that tried to devise recovery methods were really quite primitive.

2019-08-13 03:38:36 UTC

What were the cores u refer to?

2019-08-13 03:38:54 UTC

Engines & tanks.

2019-08-13 03:38:54 UTC

the solid fuel cores?

2019-08-13 03:39:05 UTC

👍

2019-08-13 03:39:15 UTC

Space x doesn’t do solids, at least yet.
