John 1; 5 KJV And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness COMPREHENDED it not. ................that means the darkness didn't understand the light. NRSV bad translation.
well there you go. I will bow to the Greek.
I suppose, however, that since the darkness didn't understand the light it couldn't overcome it.
π
ya theres some weird crossover with that word and translations for sure

The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just. The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.
The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death; but the LORD will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial. - Psalm 37: 30-33
I could some prayer, please? I feel like I may have a critical spirit attacking me. I feel like that everything I say or do is wrong and itβs causing me to be think harsh things about myself. Thank you π
@Deb65 I have to tell you that those spirits are always around, waiting in the shadows to attack. The good news is that because our Lord has already won the war, the only power those spirits have is what we grant them. Hold to God's unchanging hand. He will walk with you and carry you through the darkest of timrs.
I know y'all are the praying type, if you would say a prayer for this lady. I didn't catch her name but we just witnessed her car flip down the road about 5 times
@bdk1184 Prayer is always warranted. Do you know if she survived?
Good Morning; New to the chapel and just wanted to thank you all for starting my day out in the most wonderful way.
They ended up having to fly the lady on the helicopter, the nearest good hospital is about 35 miles away by air

<11> Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. ```
1 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.[a] 6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.
James 5:1-6

Warning to Rich Oppressors
<1> Come now, you rich people, weep and wail for the miseries that are coming to you. <2> Your riches have rotted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. <3> Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you, and it will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days. <4> Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. <5> You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. <6> You have condemned and murdered the righteous one, who does not resist you. ```
