@Deadcat - The term "singularity" is used partially to draw a comparison to black holes. The analogy being black holes are a singularity & no information survives behind the event horizon. The idea is that once Artificial General Intelligence exists the world will change so radically that it's almost impossible for us to predict what future civilizations will look like or how humans will be changed.
Some like Kurzweil are utopian about it while Elon Musk & Stephen Hawking are more fatalistic believing it could be the end of humanity.
