so don't rely too heavily on it

2018-08-12 22:19:54 UTC

mfw I get to link this video again

2018-08-12 22:20:19 UTC

I'm anti-vegan but this is labelled free-range

2018-08-12 22:21:18 UTC

What the fuck

2018-08-12 22:21:46 UTC

try to get as much as you can from local farmers

2018-08-12 22:21:52 UTC

government labelling is a joke

2018-08-12 22:23:35 UTC

I used to just personally raise 30 chickens

2018-08-12 22:23:44 UTC

It’s really rewarding

2018-08-12 22:24:03 UTC

I'm fortunant enough to get most of my vegetables from the Amish

2018-08-12 22:24:45 UTC

chickens are pretty easy

2018-08-12 22:24:55 UTC

the only tough thing is fencing imo

2018-08-12 22:27:35 UTC

I live secluded enough I didn’t need fences

2018-08-12 22:28:01 UTC

They knew where the food was

2018-08-12 22:28:04 UTC

So they didn’t leave

2018-08-12 22:29:54 UTC

Tortured meat doesnt taste as good

2018-08-12 22:30:02 UTC

They just kinda roamed 2 acres and knew if they entered the forest something would eat them

2018-08-12 22:30:05 UTC

So they stayed

2018-08-12 22:30:25 UTC

And they always layed the eggs in the coup

2018-08-12 22:33:01 UTC

fencing was more to keep others out than them in

2018-08-12 22:33:51 UTC

4 aggressive roosters worked fine for that

2018-08-12 22:34:07 UTC

vegan or not, it's ethically virtuous (maybe obligatory in some circumstances) for society to be concerned to some degree with the welfare of nonhuman animals

2018-08-12 22:34:32 UTC

Yeah

2018-08-12 22:34:56 UTC

That’s the first world for you

2018-08-12 22:37:06 UTC

acting on it is one thing, but to at least have a desire to extend healthcare in some circumstances to neighboring animals would be a virtuous state of intent

2018-08-12 22:37:23 UTC

many mass shooters were documented as torturing animals

2018-08-12 22:38:27 UTC

there's a connection b/w how society extends welfare and/or persecution among people-groups and animals

2018-08-12 22:40:34 UTC

before we ever make the investments into a universal healthcare system, i think it would be more morally virtuous for society to orchestrate some increased level of welfare for proximate nonhuman animals

2018-08-12 22:41:03 UTC

a life of suffering in the wild is a depressing paradox

2018-08-12 22:42:01 UTC

yeah, we had foxes, racoons, and coyotes where I'm from, roosters can't do much against that lol

2018-08-12 22:43:26 UTC

We have all those here too

2018-08-12 22:44:31 UTC

But the roosters fought in packs and we had guns and everything smelled like humans

2018-08-12 22:45:02 UTC

You only really have to kill a few coyotes for them to decide your property is not for them to hippity hoppity

2018-08-12 22:45:56 UTC

The human scent on everything was probably the biggest deterrent though

2018-08-12 22:46:24 UTC

Also we locked them in a coup at night and those shits hunt at night

2018-08-12 22:46:46 UTC

I guess mine were just more aggressive because the scent was not a deterrent

2018-08-12 22:47:32 UTC

That’s probably it. Where I live you could flick a snake and it would apologize and give you its lunch money

2018-08-12 22:47:51 UTC

They’re teeth can’t even break the skin

2018-08-12 22:48:22 UTC

They just lunge at you then dangle from you by their teeth

2018-08-12 22:48:37 UTC

oh wow

2018-08-12 23:32:56 UTC

Depending on your location @Alexander Ramsey your coyotes may have dog or wolf blood in them. This can cause them to be more brave around humans and aggressive.
