the internet is probably the most relevant and will practically be the only mainstream source of information in the next decade, so how they control information that is shared on the internet definitely has the capacity to threaten freedom of speech and they have demonstrated that they have no issue doing so, even if they have to manipulate the legal system

They have rights to do whatever they want on their services but as soon as they begin to expand outward and control other media then its a problem

Yes, particularly when they have deep connections with politicians and/or other foreign governments (see Google's censorship in China)
