@The Big Oof soc Dems are socialists
Socialists are communists
communists are socialists
but not the other way around
the point of socialism is communism though
social democracy is just socialism for a country where a socialist can't get their way
^
@campodin it's still socialism, or always leads to it
@Doctor Anon it’s like “we wanna be socialist but socialism is shit, so let’s alter the whole definition just to call ourselves it”
They're still shit socialists, i don't know why you have to buy into their lies that they aren't, they literally just change the labels around and change small things, at their core they are all socialists and many socialist countries have failed when they went too far.
What is the difference between Venezuela, Brazil when those are social democracy inspired countries, how are their failures any different to similar ideologies in Germany?
This
Venezuela is not a social democracy wtf
They're Democratic Socialists
Those are two different things, and the difference is greater than the names would imply
Social Democrats believe in private property and business still drives the economy
Democratic socialists believe in social ownership
That's a huge difference
That's the difference between "Germany and Venezuela"
why do you think social democracy is also called "Rhine Capitalism?"
I don't even how one would think Venezuela is a social democracy, unless there is a misunderstanding of what social democratic economics are, the economy is fuled by private enterprise
and think it's interchangeable with Democratic Socialism
First of all, let's back up here, what is "Socialism?" Do you think it's interchangeable with "social programs"?
Funny, when I talk to most socialists they claim Venezuela isn't socialist for the same reasons you claim social democrats aren't. It is capitalist and people still have private property
I know I'm bringing up wikipedia, but this is a good description of social democratic economics @campodin
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_market_economy
also
That statement
we can demonstrate in Germany that people have private property rights and that it's driven by business....
While I can and have argued why social programs are socialist in nature, the fact is social democrats still turn certain aspects of the economy public which can be nothing but socialist
We can demonstrate that Venezuelans do not have private property rights and that their economy is not driven by private enterprise
Do you think Venezuela is driven by private enterprise?
In large part it still had private enterprise
They've been attempting to steer away from that
true, but they never got there
Soc Dem economics do not have that as a goal
They (Venezuela) will never get there
In a way, they are correct that Venezuela isn't true socialism
Because socialism is a utopian fantasy
it will never happen
well I'm glad we agree on that
Social Democrats believe in private property, and it's not a "rebrand of socialism" either like was suggested by someone earlier
