wait, what if we gave them 12 gauges instead of lmgs?

2018-12-26 14:16:46 UTC

every breaching team has a 12ga guy but rifles and smgs are much better for fighting

2018-12-26 14:17:17 UTC

combat shotguns are a meme mostly

2018-12-26 14:17:35 UTC

What about a lighter rifle, rather than an m42?

2018-12-26 14:17:49 UTC

Hk43 for example

2018-12-26 14:18:34 UTC

are you taking about an m4 or an mg42

2018-12-26 14:18:50 UTC

mg42, fuck this phone

2018-12-26 14:19:18 UTC

hk43 is an assault rifle, so yeah you'd arm most of your guys with something like that

2018-12-26 14:19:40 UTC

but smgs are also good to have in an urban environment fighting unarmored opponents

2018-12-26 14:20:00 UTC

Hk43 is peak a e s t h e t i c

2018-12-26 14:20:38 UTC

German rifle made by Nazis who fled to Spain after ww2

2018-12-26 14:21:00 UTC

this is a cool new thing

2018-12-26 14:21:14 UTC

it's a bullpup

2018-12-26 14:21:21 UTC

can be

2018-12-26 14:21:31 UTC

compact, but a bit gross

2018-12-26 14:21:52 UTC

it's a 7.62 battle rifle that's compact like an m4

2018-12-26 14:22:15 UTC

better than an m4 actually because it uses a folding stock like it was made by smart men

2018-12-26 14:22:36 UTC

Why not just go with an AK? its probably cheaper and more common.

2018-12-26 14:23:11 UTC

AKs are great for dismounted troops, but they are bulky getting in and out of vehicles

2018-12-26 14:23:24 UTC

that's why modern weapons have gone the carbine route

2018-12-26 14:23:54 UTC

dude just go with Yugo Ak pistol and an arm brace

2018-12-26 14:24:28 UTC

ok gamer I'll engage at 200-300 meters with that

2018-12-26 14:25:00 UTC

2018-12-26 14:25:45 UTC

You said carbine is the appeal because of bulkiness right?

2018-12-26 14:26:02 UTC

yes that's the reason they've been adopted

2018-12-26 14:26:24 UTC

also weight to an extent

2018-12-26 14:26:31 UTC

Well that "pistol" is just as compact

2018-12-26 14:27:14 UTC

Unless carbines have the same barrel length as full sized rifles, this seems like a cheap alternative

2018-12-26 14:27:29 UTC

I'm sure it does an alright job at most things, but I would not want to be in a modern firefight without a full length stock and an optic

2018-12-26 14:27:37 UTC

cheap yes

2018-12-26 14:27:50 UTC

that's why insurgents love them

2018-12-26 14:29:38 UTC

my grandpa taught me about the importance of relying on iron sites because "an optic can get cracked, run out of batteries, or glint and give away your position. An ironight won't."

2018-12-26 14:30:10 UTC

That is true, I've always liked shooting with iron sights better

2018-12-26 14:30:19 UTC

but modern optics are very good

2018-12-26 14:30:39 UTC

I don't deny that, but still.

2018-12-26 14:31:13 UTC

the stock I understand because keeping your gun steady is upmost improtance.

2018-12-26 14:31:51 UTC

comfortable cheek weld too

2018-12-26 14:32:07 UTC

but optics are a bit unreliable. The more parts a thing has, the more things can go wrong with it.

2018-12-26 14:33:08 UTC

Fuck, my dad bought an eotech knock off and the thing died after every shot because of the recoil shifting the battery

2018-12-26 14:33:59 UTC

You are overstating their failure rate I think. Modern armies use optics for everything, many day optics do not need batteries, and night vision is too important to forgo
