Many animals show what can be interpreted as grieving over the dead, but none show what can be seen as understanding that they will die and the concept of it.
elephants are one example
They know death happens, but not what it is and that they will be subject to it as well.
We do not know that animals dont understand death
We do not know they do
Again burden of proof is to prove they do understand it, not on me to to prove they dont

how is an elephant grieving over the dead different the na human grieving over the dead
Because the human can understand it is going to die as well
there is little difference between a human grieveing the dead and an elephant
but the real difference is that the human understands the concept of mortality
and the elephant doesnt

It just happens to them
