yeah. jobs programs can be good. The bigger problem with that today, though, is that public works like in FDR days were less specialized fields than they are today

i think that a much higher percentage of workers in construction today are expected to have operational competence in heavy machinery and modern construction techniques

not to mention that if big projects are attempted in jobs programs with untrained labor, i think today society would not tolerate human lives being lost for a project like we allowed for example during the construction of the hoover dam
