AR15 was in the 1950s

woops looks like its actually accurate, looks like AK's also have an obscene track record of being sturdier and easier to manage than the M series, its cheaper, now it has just as much attatchments. Ergonomics dont mean as much as weight tbh. Sights are similar, accessories... if you want to look tacticool sure. AK's are literaly reliable in all conditions with little maintnence
