@Adoring Fan What about the kulaks who resisted collectivization efforts because that would mean they could no longer exploit the poor peasants, and who hoarded grain because they were not able to turn a profit?
Bare in mind before collectivization Russia had famines every 5 years. Post collectivization food production increased and barring the post ww2 famine caused by the death of lots of the workforce in wwii there were no more famines.
