My guess is that (1) there's so much demand that there's an effective DDoS attack of the huge influx of people begging for 3D-printable guns, and (2) there's actual malicious DDoS attacks against it.

I got one but all the others keep crashing

You can't really secure your website against getting smashed by its own lack of funding.
