oof
it is good to see how much Trump has done and how much of it has gone unnoticed with the media out to get him, but I think a list like that is too open-ended to rigorously compare to other Presidents
there don't seem to be any hard or fast rules about what counts as an accomplishment, so you could fudge the list quite a bit
Meditation, yoga & mindfulness, TED talks = worship service in the liberal religion
Yoga teachers, mindfulness teachers & university professors = priests in the liberal religion
For the first time in a few days the Dow is going up.
Good
S&P 500 has also gone up significantly.
Evidently just a correction.
Just got my ballot via mail.
that is a major relief
It’s a shame Pat isn’t going against Feinstein for Senate. We’re stuck with young poz or old poz for that.
this economy business was getting me real worried
For now it's doing rather well thankfully.
I think it would've been quite entertaining to get Pat, but I'm still debating with myself whether that would hurt the GOP downballot. I'm not sure what would hurt us more, no candidate or an unwinnable candidate
I am worried about automation tbh
the more I study in detail what machine learning is capable of, the more I worry about a future where you either bought in before the AI revolution and live off the dividends, or you are an expendable peasant unemployable regardless of your talents or training
You should be. The labour market is going to be difficult to restructure following automation.
It's going to be a social crisis most likely depending on how fast the process is.
it's already pretty damn hard to get a decent job
I am in another political chat and a bunch of coolguys are arguing about global warming being real or not
I said that it doesn't really matter, since going out of your way not to pollute or overuse land is always a good idea regardless of whether the planet is heating or cooling, that should be obvious
but they were throwing scientific studies back at each other and all of this shit
I reasoned, if these people are viciously arguing for or against a certain unified global theory of weather, surely they must be weather experts and thus must understand small scale weather phenomena well
I mean otherwise, they would be as dumb as someone who knew nothing about the rules of baseball or today's teams and players trying to make a strong assertion about who will win the world series
I just went into wikipedia and typed in "weather" and found some articles on smaller scale phenomena and asked them what it was
nobody knew, in fact they changed the subject. That was interesting, considering they are weather experts competing to see whose grand unified theory of global weather was supreme. Explaining basic small scale stuff to a pleb like me should've been small change for them
You know I hate to say it but... I almost wonder... could they possibly be idiot LARPers who don't actually know anything?
it's almost like we are crude little apes virulently pushing man-made Absolute Truths to soothe our own fears of blindness and impotence in the face of a vast, unknowable, and hostile universe
really makes me think
Shill this
Oh fuck this is April
NK talks have been a failure
It would have been great if significant progress had been made towards denuclearization
But it hasn’t gone that way
lol you're gonna have egg on your face from that statement @lancerelliott {CARTHAGE}
Okay this is epic
I found an excellent article from Slate we can use
“Ultimately, the left would be well-advised to get over its unrequited crush on courts and judicial review, as well as the delusion that our old, terse Constitution has much to say about modern problems. It does not, and in any event, too much constitutionalism, like too much democracy, can be dangerous to self-governance and can even destroy a society. The surest and most durable route to progressive change is through the ballot box, and not the courthouse doors.
The question, then, becomes how to shrink the power of courts. There are many valid ways to accomplish that—even without amending the Constitution itself. “

The article advocates for the shrinking of the Judicial Branch’s powers and the distancing from the Constitution
