New opportunity in the Senate: Montana Senator Jon Tester votes "no" on ending govt shutdown.

definitely a good campaign talking point for any R competitors

2018-02-08 17:27:24 UTC

NPR said Tester will keep his seat because no real GOP candidate has entered the race

2018-02-08 17:40:32 UTC

I swear to God no one ever responds to any of my comments on here

@Den >NPR

They're not wrong.

2018-02-12 00:34:51 UTC

There don't seem to be many well-known candidates running.

2018-02-12 00:35:21 UTC

In particular, only 2 have any notability from statewide elections.

2018-02-12 00:36:55 UTC

1 was a candidate for Lt. Gov., where I assume he lost the primary, and the other was elected Auditor in 2016.

2018-02-12 01:05:16 UTC

yeah but that doesn't mean Tester will definitely win

2018-02-12 18:50:40 UTC

Yeah not necessarily but it's a huge indicator IMO; for instance, the actual right-wingers in Louisiana's 2016 Senate election were all defeated by a moderate just because he held the post of Treasurer.

2018-02-12 18:51:04 UTC

Fortunately, Louisiana got a Republican Senator, even though he's a moderate one.

2018-02-12 18:51:48 UTC

Another example is MN, where they're rating the regular election seat as "Solid D" while rating the special election seat as "likely D / tossup"

2018-02-12 18:52:20 UTC

There's just no Republicans running to unseat the non-appointed incumbent.

2018-02-12 19:30:12 UTC

it's still early

2018-02-12 19:36:57 UTC

Indeed.

2018-02-12 19:37:10 UTC

Hopefully, the situation improves.

2018-02-12 19:42:49 UTC

What we need is fresh faces, charismatic candidates in the right wing to take over the GOP

2018-02-12 19:43:10 UTC

Kind of like fuentes or one of those guys, good orators

2018-03-15 00:51:24 UTC

We gotta keep this house seat for slammin' Gianforte.
