86 km in diameter we can see from earth

2019-04-22 00:05:28 UTC

look at the photo of earth they took from the moon

2019-04-22 00:05:50 UTC

do u think in that photo it is possible to see something on earth 86 km in diameter

2019-04-22 00:08:20 UTC

what do u think

2019-04-22 00:09:52 UTC

Hm, I'd want angular diameter calculations given that size and distance, and compare it to pixel measurements of the crater on a picture to get angular diameter of that.

2019-04-22 00:10:05 UTC

I'll try angular diameter of the crater

2019-04-22 00:10:09 UTC

u dont need some crazy math for this

2019-04-22 00:10:18 UTC

the diameter of the crater is 86 km lol

2019-04-22 00:10:37 UTC

But we kinda do in order to solidify the argument?

2019-04-22 00:11:10 UTC

ok the diameter of the crater is 86 diameters why do u need more info than that

2019-04-22 00:11:19 UTC

we can see it from earth

2019-04-22 00:11:40 UTC

u cant see an 86 km thing the other direction

2019-04-22 00:12:38 UTC

I need distance as well

2019-04-22 00:13:08 UTC

Not exact, but that is 238k miles?

2019-04-22 00:14:30 UTC

384,400 km

2019-04-22 00:16:38 UTC

It comes to 0.013 degrees

2019-04-22 00:17:48 UTC

Angular resolution for the eye is generally about 0.02 degrees

2019-04-22 00:18:48 UTC

Can you see it with the naked eye?

2019-04-22 00:21:53 UTC

death

2019-04-22 00:21:54 UTC

@jeremy you dont' see it with unaided eye, you need binoculars

2019-04-22 00:21:55 UTC

or somethign

2019-04-22 00:22:20 UTC

u can see tycho with the naked eye

2019-04-22 00:22:27 UTC

Hmmm

2019-04-22 00:22:36 UTC

Tycho is one of the few lunar craters you can actually see with the naked eye. If you stare squarely at it, you'll see a tiny, unresolved bright spot about a quarter of the way in from the southern limb.

2019-04-22 00:22:37 UTC

I'll have to check that for myself

2019-04-22 00:22:50 UTC

yeah go look at the moon u can see it unaided

2019-04-22 00:23:03 UTC

no telescope no zoom can no binoculars

2019-04-22 00:23:04 UTC

what? no, you can't

2019-04-22 00:23:13 UTC

lol u can

2019-04-22 00:23:16 UTC

you can see only the big craters

2019-04-22 00:23:20 UTC

tycho

2019-04-22 00:23:24 UTC

u can

2019-04-22 00:23:28 UTC

def can't see that one without binoculars

2019-04-22 00:23:32 UTC

you're 100% wrong

2019-04-22 00:23:48 UTC

lol really google it

2019-04-22 00:23:49 UTC

might see a dark patch or a change in color

2019-04-22 00:23:55 UTC

but you can't see tycho with the unaided eye

2019-04-22 00:24:03 UTC

i have seen it with the naked eye personally but this is common knowledge

2019-04-22 00:24:08 UTC

no, you haven't

2019-04-22 00:24:09 UTC

google it
