light rays are not stuck to the surface they come from the sun
No, you wouldn't cross the equator, not dead reckoning east.
@AstralSentient well wait lemme think
b/c i think you would
if you set your initial heading as east, and never adjusted it again, didn't look at a compass
your magnetic heading wouldnt' stay east
this is not cut and dry as some people thing
think
Dead reckoning would be directionally east, not based on compass.
at the start?
or throughout the journey
u are in new york u go east at the sunrise on the equinox
I'm talking throughout, staying on an east path, relative to your starting position
well you'd need a compass to do that
which i guess is dead reckoning still
Mark it on a map or globe
but imagine you start on a heading of 90 and never 'turn' left nor right
eventaully your magnetic heading will change
you wuoldn't follow a line of latitude in that case
yeah i know
now ur gettin crazy
and south of it, then you'd return back to where you started
lol
would you cross the equator at an angle, or would you be parallle with it, in your opinion?
the equator is the only place u can start at and go east and never get off the equator line
imo
Dead reckoning, you would follow a line of latitude
at least ur saying if u started in new york and went east u would end up at the equator
East
thats ur opinion
sun rises at the equator for everyone on earth on the equinox if i travel east from new york in that direction i would end u p at the equator
tahts waht i think thats only my opinion
youve seen it done on google earth and a made up earth and u think the made up earth one is real
@AstralSentient if you maintain a compass heading ya
@jeremy if you end up at the equator, and then kept going, you'd also go past it, and circle back to where you started
just like an orbit
idc where u end up after
Jeranism's google earth example doesn't go east, he curves it up northeast or southeast, lol
it's like that image i posted
