Yeah

2018-09-09 17:01:13 UTC

and its almost like they target industries they can do without and disporotionatly hurt trump supports.

2018-09-09 17:03:27 UTC

Depends in the market of the goods that have tariffs.

2018-09-09 17:03:33 UTC

Time will tell.

2018-09-09 17:04:39 UTC

Goes back to my point. Yes it helps a small.industry, but it hurts dozens of other industries which are a larger part of the us economy

2018-09-09 17:05:50 UTC

My county is peeved with US trading, pulling out of the TPPA

2018-09-09 17:06:13 UTC

2018-09-09 17:09:20 UTC

I am sorry to tell you this Louis, but American manufactory jobs like we saw in the first half of the 1900s isn't coming back in any meaningful way. Physical factories may come back to the us but it will mostly be automated and very few jobs there.

2018-09-09 17:10:30 UTC

Same with coal, the world has moved on

2018-09-09 17:13:24 UTC

Eh

2018-09-09 17:13:35 UTC

Coal powers most non nuclear power plants

2018-09-09 17:14:39 UTC

But US coal mining however might not be competitive

2018-09-09 17:15:10 UTC

Natural gas is becoming a huge player

2018-09-09 17:16:03 UTC

And by huge I mean 4x as big as coal

2018-09-09 17:16:25 UTC

Surely it's a stopgap till renewables?

2018-09-09 17:16:33 UTC

In terms of number of plants

2018-09-09 17:17:01 UTC

There are more jobs in the making solar cells then in mining coal

2018-09-09 17:18:24 UTC

If only there were some kind of global accords so that the US could invest more heavily in job creating solar <:thonk:485324336874651650>
