they smartened up by fear/natural selection; those who let kids/people do/act in ways out of bliss was slowly stomped out; many things changed during those times; schools, social society interactions; and not to mention how you could "get" one of those in a minor way that your body could fight off easily thus never manifesting fully; etc

i know, they cure a lot of other deadly diseases, like Polio and got rid of small poxes
