We got any good sourcing on the mechanics of that, @[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/ ?
@Pat.Henry Im not sure that protesting *with* these other groups would be to our benefit. But cooridnating with them so that rather than clashing with each other, both groups are occupying the police and completely overwhelm them
@Crye_Salesman I don’t want to protest with them but to have a cause they sympathize with would help us gain support from people on that side of the spectrum. We want people’s support! Not the parties
strongly agree
I love that idea with the USDA! People need food in these times. No reason we should be destroying the surplus amount
I don't get the fixation on protesting. Gives you PR, makes a lot of noise. Rarely results in any change not already in the establishment's mind. Easily results in crackdowns
Civil disobedience with an explicit goal is good, though. That salon, for instance. Ideas like Patrick Connelly's farmer outreach idea builds power, and cultural authority.
The big thing is community service.
We need to provide good services for communities and for the people.
I personally agree. It seems that protesting gets nothing done (For example Virginia’s turnout protesting fine rights) but I see it as a way to get our message out and try and gain support
Exactly. Show that we are for the people
I 99% believe that the Dallas Salon deal is going to get us major support that we need.
*gun rights
We need some more of that and I think we will start to see a lot more of it
We need to endorse good actions, and flame bad actions.
we discussed in voice chat last night that there is some basis in america that follows a path of vote>protest peacefully>civil disobedience>protest angrily>militant action and most people feel some moral obligation to declare and demonstrate their grievances and give the govt opportunity to respond
Skipping steps makes it easier to call us “extremists”
yep. and it makes it very clear who has no real interest in their civil liberties when they make fun of people for following that precedence of events
Va was good shit, but it's a double-edged sword. Without control over MSM messaging, a very strong portion of the population just sees a bunch of wannabe soldiers playing dress up. No real connection to the gun-owning demographic or protestors.
Concur, although the distrust in MSM is growing exponentially. I dont know anyone my age who thinks CNN, Fox, MSNBC are anything more than memes, and even my conservative, sheltered family is able to see the blatant hypocrisy and bias
The real threat is written publications.
There are also online publications that segments of the population still take seriously, both in text and video content
NYT, wappo et all are still papers of record for much of the educated public, even though they've been weapons of the status quo for over a decade
Ye
Although those "actual" newspapers ^ still, at least sometimes, actually commit journalism, which could actually help us
But my main point is with the pamphlet that’s been passed around. Maybe we should highlight our anger towards ICE specifically to at least grab attention from a different demographic
HuffPost will do nothing but call us extremists, a good journalist at the NYT might give us a fair shake and at least an actual examination for our values
i agree @Pat.Henry , i think publicly throwing our support, both verbally and on the streets, behind anti-ICE people, and *sigh* BLM could produce a huge shift in public opinion, at least in the younger generations
I think you vastly overestimate the NYT, unfortunately. As much as they've done great work, they're functionally a tool of the democratic party apparatus (see their biden molestation tweet)
100% @Crye_Salesman
BLM dead tho, it seems
Gotta find its descendants, and identify groups we can work with
Identifying 'potential friendly' publications also a good idea
I really like armedequality on Instagram. Not at all BLM but very pro-gun
Ah i didnt necessarily BLM as an actual organization, but rather the other demographics that feel abused by the police
youre probably right about NYT, but you get my drift overall, finding *any* media outlet that would give us an actual bit of journalism could very helpful
@Crye_Salesman I don’t think we should side with them but it isn’t a secret that we hate the government. ICE is just another department in the government. We’re really just restating that fact but directing it at a certain department. I see what you mean though. It could cause a small rift
Its a fine line to tread, because groups like BLM have also socially attacked innocent people because they shot it out with someone of a different race. but really letting people know our only concern is ensuring all people are free from abuses of 'authority' and demonstrating that support and sense of community could be paradigm changing
It is also a way to talk with them about their goals because this community has also attacked people that it didn't agree with. Look at the posts from people commenting on the CO guy page
oh for sure, elements of this community are very toxic
