I was thinking
a lot of what you would call neoclassical
I think should instead be called post-metal
because that's what it is

WE THINK IT MEANS THAT WHICH COMES AFTER METAL
it builds off an existing similar usage
BUT IT GENERALLY MEANS DECONSTRUCTED METAL
post-punk e.g.
I.E. LOSING ITS INNER SPIRIT

AGREED THAT IT SHOULD BE DIFFERENT, BUT...
it does have a pejorative meaning attached
but the term nevertheless
is meaningful
it is in fact deconstructed metal
even when good
of course retaining spirit
The term post-metal was hijacked many years ago, wasn't it?
