Nice, what are you doing

2017-08-17 22:43:44 UTC

so I looked into how rock climbers conceptualize their grip training

2017-08-17 22:43:49 UTC

I probably need to work up to it, I think I have weak hands

2017-08-17 22:44:04 UTC

I'd work on that towel grip crap then

2017-08-17 22:44:13 UTC

in my case I'm trying to take my already decent hands to the next level

2017-08-17 22:44:45 UTC

I'm doing rice bucket and towel pullups rn basically

2017-08-17 22:44:51 UTC

so it looks like climbers think about it in terms of how much of their hand is over the edge they're hanging from and how much their thumb is involved

2017-08-17 22:45:24 UTC

so I hang in false grip until failure, then repeat for each knuckle

2017-08-17 22:45:33 UTC

so it's first knuckle hang, second knuckle hang, fingertip hang, all to failure

2017-08-17 22:45:36 UTC

and repeat

2017-08-17 22:45:50 UTC

I have pretty strong hands and that kicks my ass still even with two hands

2017-08-17 22:45:56 UTC

@Buxus "Prozak redpilled me in 2009 when I was looking for metal reviews"

Same, and same year too

2017-08-17 22:46:05 UTC

same

2017-08-17 22:46:22 UTC

except I already figured out most of it, but he helped me realize I wasn't crazy, everyone else was

2017-08-17 22:47:08 UTC

to translate to bjj, the basic grips are a full "crushing" grip (for collar grips and chokes, and the rarer pistol-grip for sleeves), a finger-tip style false grip for sleeves, and a "monkey-paw" style grip for no-gi

2017-08-17 22:47:26 UTC

there's very little thumb involved

2017-08-17 22:47:37 UTC

I try to train my thumb just because I've injured it before

2017-08-17 22:48:01 UTC

makes sense to have a a good strength base

2017-08-17 22:48:48 UTC

I just can't believe how fast the climbing stuff fucks me up

2017-08-17 22:48:54 UTC

rice bucket just seemed like a cool place to start so I'll fuck around with that for a while and see how it goes then advance as needed

2017-08-17 22:49:03 UTC

it did a lot for me

2017-08-17 22:49:18 UTC

I want 16" forearms though

2017-08-17 22:50:16 UTC

I want a grip strong enough to use no-gi style grips all the time

2017-08-17 22:50:33 UTC

I don't want to grab sleeves with fingertips, I would rather just clamp the guy's wrist

2017-08-17 22:50:46 UTC

yeah

2017-08-17 22:50:52 UTC

see that will involve a bunch of thumb

2017-08-17 22:51:05 UTC

because that's always there and it also doesn't create as much joint damage

2017-08-17 22:51:12 UTC

when the guy strips my grip

2017-08-17 22:51:34 UTC

I'd recommend rolling a towel into a pretty fat roll and squeezing it until your hands burn out

2017-08-17 22:51:43 UTC

both in horizontal and vertical configuration

2017-08-17 22:51:58 UTC

@Deleted User 57835c2c your takes on this always seem like

2017-08-17 22:52:13 UTC

you dont have any clue what the right is like, I mean how people are

2017-08-17 22:52:20 UTC

like you're in the middle of some liberal bubble

2017-08-17 22:52:33 UTC

except you just do the reverse take of that

2017-08-17 22:52:37 UTC

which isn't the same

2017-08-17 22:53:07 UTC

why would he need to "enjoy the crime"

2017-08-17 22:53:10 UTC

his is the strong position

2017-08-17 22:53:18 UTC

I mean he should kill all liberals

2017-08-17 22:53:38 UTC

then he really would be gone, that's not what he is about

2017-08-17 22:55:13 UTC

the klan thing is so funny

2017-08-17 22:55:23 UTC

were they actually at the rally?
