this is a horrible tragedy

Dad's side of the family is German-English and I remember him joking that St. Patrick should have converted the snakes and drowned the Irish instead, and my paternal grandfather saying our family's traditional way of celebrating St. Patrick's Day was to wear orange and beat up Irishmen.

so because Iam not allowed to drop step at this apartment it's making me look into the body mechanics they use in karate

I feel like karate is more heavily stratified between crowdist nerds who ask their sensei for a belt and go to competitions vs. actual crazies punching bags of rocks

kung fu I feel has more of a gradient because there are so many styles out there, a lot of them are 50% brutal and 50% gay, I feel like with karate it's either 100% McDojo or 100% Mas Oyama

so I want to feel out the body mechanics just because they are more apartment friendly than xingyi

I wish I could have a brutal karate guy put on gloves and just punch my shoulder while I shuffle around, just to feel out the power and flexibility of the movement style

I feel like literally nobody talks about karate anymore

now that MMA exists karate just fell off the face of the earth

looking at it, the power punches used in forms and about half of the footwork seem to be the main good things about karate but are ironically the parts you never see anyone use in the freefights in their little contests

they bounce around like boxers and trade pattycake blows, you never see them actually do the punches on each other that they do in class all day. Knowing today's spergs, if they did they'd probably be disqualified for racism or something

or honestly I could just as easily do all my stuff with rocks and logs, or cast atlas stones out of concrete

I could happily do everything that way
