im inclined to think that 'stupid people' arent as stupid as they seem; they are actually evil, and are trying to intentionally take away the rights of everyone else
"evil abides, when good men do nothing." is abit too simplistic. it is more accurate to say 'evil abides, when good men are prevented from doing anything'.
this is because bad things, normally, need to be done in secret, and also, need to be worked up to, and disguised and presented as good things. if evil things were done in the open, and with immediacy, then good people would react, and shut that shit down so hard, that peoples heads would spin.
this is why evil people must first gain powers and authorities over good people, and then put measures in place which prevents good people from taking action, and then, only then, can evil deeds be performed upon good people.
