I tell them I believe in multiple gods

2018-01-17 18:14:39 UTC

otoh, i would accept nietzsche's statement that their was only one christian and he died on the cross

2018-01-17 18:14:58 UTC

i'd also agree with CS lewis that islam is essentially a type of christianity

2018-01-17 18:15:07 UTC

exactly

2018-01-17 18:15:28 UTC

if muslims and baptists and catholics are christians then why would I want to let myself be part of that?

2018-01-17 18:16:01 UTC

I would bend over backwards to distance myself from it

2018-01-17 18:16:22 UTC

so I say I am a polytheist pro-polygamist who worships aliens

2018-01-17 18:16:30 UTC

Etymologically, a Christian is a follower of Christ - technically speaking that is the only qualifier

2018-01-17 18:16:38 UTC

then christians are not christian

2018-01-17 18:16:40 UTC

if that is the case

2018-01-17 18:16:59 UTC

Jesus said to do all the old testament stuff, so where is their polygamy?

2018-01-17 18:17:24 UTC

where are their temples and sacrifices?

2018-01-17 18:17:28 UTC

where are their prophets?

2018-01-17 18:17:32 UTC

The New Testament does void a few specific Old Testament laws, like the food laws

2018-01-17 18:17:47 UTC

yeah but Jesus said he is not come to destroy the law nor the prophets, but to fulfill them

2018-01-17 18:17:51 UTC

so where are their prophets and laws

2018-01-17 18:17:59 UTC

I honestly don't see any

2018-01-17 18:18:32 UTC

Temples and sacrifices are generally understood to be no longer necessary after Christ, when it comes to American Christians - this is widely disputed throughout the world though

2018-01-17 18:19:02 UTC

"generally understood"

2018-01-17 18:19:04 UTC

so they just made it up

2018-01-17 18:19:05 UTC

great

2018-01-17 18:19:11 UTC

this is why I say I am not a christian

2018-01-17 18:19:20 UTC

unlike christians I can actually read the book written about Jesus

2018-01-17 18:19:20 UTC

Protestantism is made up, yes

2018-01-17 18:19:29 UTC

I don't let my kentucky preacher read it for me and tell me what he wants

2018-01-17 18:19:55 UTC

I listen to my polygamist mountain prophets talk about how the US government is evil

2018-01-17 18:20:03 UTC

Catholicism as accepting potentially false documents, and could be made up as well

2018-01-17 18:20:13 UTC

I think catholicism is the worst thing to ever exist

2018-01-17 18:20:36 UTC

everything bad that currently exists I see as just a side effect of it

2018-01-17 18:21:36 UTC

Of the 'big churches', I find the Eastern Orthodoxy to be the most reasonable, though it is not entirely true to the book either

2018-01-17 18:21:51 UTC

I have no experience with orthodixies

2018-01-17 18:22:13 UTC

They are mostly reasonable people

2018-01-17 18:22:18 UTC

in what sense

2018-01-17 18:22:38 UTC

They don't bend the scripture to fit their life

2018-01-17 18:23:09 UTC

They just admit that they cant be perfect; asceticism within the church is the pursuit of a more holy life

2018-01-17 18:24:13 UTC

In America, they would have us believe that Jesus sold Amralites out of a pickup truck to fight random desert people wars, because that is currently convenient to teach

2018-01-17 18:24:23 UTC

Catholics did this all the time as well

2018-01-17 18:24:38 UTC

"God told me we have to conquer this place"

2018-01-17 18:24:49 UTC

catholics just made stuff up

2018-01-17 18:25:13 UTC

they sodomized little boys, let POC in and torture killed anyone with an IQ over 95 or any other good traits

2018-01-17 18:25:38 UTC

until all that was left was unibrow spergs who blindly follow their fat bowlcut priest
