buying it twice

2018-02-23 00:41:31 UTC

the real <:brainlet:404155381359706132> move

2018-02-23 01:26:06 UTC

why tho

2018-02-23 01:31:50 UTC

because the anticheat on pc is shit tier

2018-02-23 01:35:44 UTC

anyone really good at overclocking?

2018-02-23 02:15:39 UTC

lmao I'm pretty decent, got my 6600K up to 4.75GHz on all 4 cores, what do you need?

2018-02-23 02:16:46 UTC

oh

2018-02-23 02:17:07 UTC

physically bypassing the voltage regulator on a GPU without frying it from overvoltage

2018-02-23 02:17:24 UTC

mostly because i want to see how hard i can push an obsolete GPU

2018-02-23 02:17:51 UTC

it's a R7 240 and without bypass it currently maxes out around 1.5GHz (stock runs 720mhz)

2018-02-23 02:18:48 UTC

dude, dont even worry about doing anything with that card except using it as a paper weight

2018-02-23 02:18:57 UTC

paperweights are boring

2018-02-23 02:19:04 UTC

at least in this case i'm experimenting with overclocking techniques

2018-02-23 02:19:18 UTC

my 1060 absofuckinglutely smashes the r7 240

2018-02-23 02:19:25 UTC

you can always oc cards higher in linux than you can in windows. not sure why but thats how it works.

2018-02-23 02:19:41 UTC

these aren't overclocks done in the OS

2018-02-23 02:19:51 UTC

these are done by reprogramming the BIOS

2018-02-23 02:20:12 UTC

im not sure how to do that tbh

2018-02-23 02:20:23 UTC

Find bios editor for card series

2018-02-23 02:20:32 UTC

then you flash it once you feel safe

2018-02-23 02:20:33 UTC

most miner boards have bios tweaked to allow for higher ocs

2018-02-23 02:20:50 UTC

Miner boards sometimes aim to reduce voltage while overclocking

2018-02-23 02:21:02 UTC

which is useful for gaming too tbh

2018-02-23 02:21:10 UTC

are you oc'ing for gaming or mining

2018-02-23 02:21:16 UTC

this is just experimentation

2018-02-23 02:21:34 UTC

gtx 1060 cant OC for shit last i checked due to locked bios and a voltage cap programmed into the locked bios

2018-02-23 02:22:05 UTC

you should be able to get 325 sols out of a 1060 with +200core +900mem +110w

2018-02-23 02:22:28 UTC

mine will push the core to around +250

2018-02-23 02:22:40 UTC

its probably not stable tho.

2018-02-23 02:22:41 UTC

i keep the memory around 800 and the power raises by 10%

2018-02-23 02:22:44 UTC

it is

2018-02-23 02:22:55 UTC

just a lucky card

2018-02-23 02:23:20 UTC

but until someone cracks the pascal bios, voltage cant be modified to go high for extreme overclocking

2018-02-23 02:23:35 UTC

not that i want to overclock a card outside of the lock while its still in warranty

2018-02-23 02:23:50 UTC

you can change the wats in msi afterburner for windows or other os's in linux

2018-02-23 02:23:57 UTC

i use afterburner for it

2018-02-23 02:24:20 UTC

but after a certain percentage, the voltage slider is useless

2018-02-23 02:24:31 UTC

i think it was 15%

2018-02-23 02:24:41 UTC

then the card refuses to go any higher

2018-02-23 02:25:08 UTC

now you can physically bypass the regulator IC on the 1060 too

2018-02-23 02:25:14 UTC

but it is wayyy to valuable to do that without good reason
