Okay so this is the research paper about American individualism. It compares and contrasts our modern understanding of "individualism" to the Revolution era realities of the people in society. The reason it is relevant is because Libertarianism stresses a specific adherence to individual above all else to emulate early American values. But this explains how that is anachronistic. It points towards conservatism and individuals working to build a community being more of a true core American principle :
