Hey Derek am I muted in voice chat

2019-04-03 21:25:33 UTC

I guess so?

2019-04-03 21:26:46 UTC

you do know that the dude in this video saying that the sticks don't prove anything is going off no proven facts

2019-04-03 21:27:23 UTC

and if the earth was flat both sticks would cast the same shadow

2019-04-03 21:27:54 UTC

That’s assuming the sun is 93 million miles away. Flat earthers don’t believe that anyway. It’s a straw man.

2019-04-03 21:28:03 UTC

Oooif

2019-04-03 21:28:21 UTC

And no, you’re not muted @Mr.science

2019-04-03 21:28:32 UTC

Ok

2019-04-03 21:28:36 UTC

Sorry I was dum

2019-04-03 21:29:11 UTC

I think I need to restart my discord?

2019-04-03 21:29:15 UTC

okay @Derek Nelson how do you you think the sun works if the earth is flat

2019-04-03 21:29:50 UTC
2019-04-03 21:29:52 UTC

he didnt tho he proved it was round

2019-04-03 21:30:03 UTC

The sun is far more local. Which would produce the same effect as a sun 93 million miles away on a curved earth.

2019-04-03 21:31:04 UTC

if the sun was more local the temp would be higher and days would never end

2019-04-03 21:31:04 UTC

But again, the globers are arguing a straw man. Making an assumption about flat earth that the sun is 93 million miles away, that we don’t even believe.

2019-04-03 21:31:17 UTC

A local sun would produce a linear change in the sun's altitude with latitude?

2019-04-03 21:31:23 UTC

That’s your assumption. I don’t believe you on that either.

2019-04-03 21:31:55 UTC

The inverse square law is an assumption?

2019-04-03 21:32:07 UTC

Not even talking to you.

2019-04-03 21:32:31 UTC

its not an assumption its basic astrology

2019-04-03 21:32:40 UTC

Geometry*

2019-04-03 21:32:57 UTC

nope that math and shapes

2019-04-03 21:33:09 UTC

Why wouldn’t a smaller local sun be just as hot as a distant giant sun? Don’t be silly.

2019-04-03 21:33:47 UTC

The sun's distance would change by a much larger factor throughout the day.

2019-04-03 21:34:07 UTC

we can measure the distances and the size of the sun

2019-04-03 21:34:18 UTC

Wouldn't we always be able to see the sun tho?

2019-04-03 21:34:19 UTC

Never mind that the sun’s distance can’t be measured anyway. That’s a theory all on it’s own.

2019-04-03 21:34:26 UTC

If it was close?

2019-04-03 21:34:58 UTC

Because on a globe model the sun disappears behind the earth

2019-04-03 21:35:24 UTC

I mean, flat earthers have already conceded that the sun's heat decreases with distance, since they believe seasons are caused by the sun circling above and below the equator.

2019-04-03 21:35:29 UTC

Anyone who has ever told you they’ve definitely measured the sun’s distance, is lying to you.
