I think there are too many independent researchers and journalists for the entire media to be all shut up and controlled on the news.
Fake news exists, but it starts getting to paranoia when everything widely reported is assumed to be fake news by a group of people "controlling" it.
Too vague for me, unless someone can define and point out the entire structure of the control grid and how it all plays out in practice.
