The gameplay in RE4 isn't all that aged. Just the non-moving when shooting part and the lack of strafing.

It had the tank-controls, sure. But so does RE7 as any first person game would play weird without tank controls.

The proper term for tank controls is character relative motion, as opposed to camera relative motion in standard third person games.
