U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday said he has yet to hit upon a formula for repealing Obamacare
and replacing it with a new healthcare program, but he expressed some optimism on another top priority, overhauling the

Two counselors at an addiction facility in southeastern Pennsylvania died after overdosing on opioids, according to the
Chester County District Attorney.

A serial rapist who dodged justice for 26 years has been jailed after advances in DNA profiling. Raymond Manners, now
56, attacked a woman in her own bed after breaking into her home.

He climbed through a window of the victim’s home in the Chapeltown area of Leeds, West Yorks, on November 23, 1991, as
she was asleep in bed.

The 25-year-old victim was raped before Manners left the property. Forensic evidence was recovered after the attack but

A man who police say hurled anti-Islamic slurs at two teenage girls on a rush-hour train in Oregon and fatally stabbed
two men who tried to calm him down has been charged with murder, police said Saturday.

Jeremy Joseph Christian was being held in the Multnomah County Jail Saturday, a day after the attack. The 35 year-old
man spent time in prison for robbery and kidnapping charges years ago.

President Trump’s National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster told reporters during a press conference at the G7 Summit in Sicily that he is “not concerned” with reports that Jared Kushner tried to set up diplomatic back-channels with Russia.

McMaster initially declined to speak on the Kushner reports but when asked if he would be concerned if someone in the administration tried to set up a backchannel with the Kremlin, he said “no,” Reuters reported.

"We have back-channel communications with any number of individual (countries). So generally speaking, about back-channel communications, what that allows you to do is communicate in a discreet manner," McMaster said, adding that “we're not concerned about it."

Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and a top White House adviser, allegedly proposed a secret back-channel between the Kremlin and the Trump transition team during a December meeting with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

Kushner reportedly spoke with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak several times about creating that line of communication to facilitate sensitive discussions aimed at exploring the incoming administration's options with Russia as it was developing its Syria policy.

An attorney for Kushner responded late Friday about the alleged conversations with Kislyak, saying his client participated in myriad calls during that time and doesn’t recall those being alleged.

Kushner’s legal counsel has said that their client will cooperate with federal investigators and Congress.

The aides and advisers who endured the last major independent investigation at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue say President Donald Trump and his team cannot be prepared for how miserable their lives are about to become.

Ken Starr's investigation into Bill Clinton wrought havoc on the personal and professional lives of the White House staff, brought down a sitting governor, and ultimately led to the impeachment of a president for only the second time in American history.

And it did all that despite, after almost 10 years and $70 million, ultimately finding insufficient evidence to bring charges against the Clintons or any White House officials. More indictments and convictions were doled out to Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush aides.

But the Clinton probe was still brutal in the toll that it took.

"There were definitely nights when I put my faith in alcohol," said former White House Staff Secretary Sean Patrick Maloney, who is now a Democratic congressman from New York. "It's not fun."

Maloney said he'll never forget standing in his office in the White House when the Senate Sergeant of Arms delivered the articles of impeachment to Clinton.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller's probe into Russian meddling in last year's election and possible ties of the Trump campaign to Moscow is starting at the beginning of Trump's presidency when he has few accomplishments or good will to fall back on, and when the White House is already riven with internal divisions and leaks.

North Korean state media claims the country has tested a "a new type of anti-aircraft guided weapon."

State-run media KCNA said on Saturday that Kim Jong Un watched the test and said that defects in the system have been fixed.

The new reported test comes after heightened tensions in the Korean peninsula, and follows international condemnation of several banned ballistic missile tests the isolated nation has carried out so far this year.

Experts said some of the North's claims about its anti-aircraft systems are doubtful.

"North Korea tested the new-type anti-aircraft guided weapons system and suggested that they can even hit the stealth aircraft and ballistic missiles, but I think this is exaggeration given their level of technology at this point," Yang Uk, a North Korean expert at advisory committee for the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, told NBC News.

North Korea's most recent ballistic missile test was conducted last week, when North Korea launched a medium-range ballistic missile. Another missile launched in mid-May flew around 430 miles before crashing into the sea, officials have said. Some other tests conducted this year ended in the missiles blowing up shortly after launch.

The U.S. military said it will try to shoot down an intercontinental-range missile in a test next week. The planned missile shoot down is intended to test the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system, the Missile Defense Agency said this week.

Linwood Michael Kaine, a son of former 2016 Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine, faces criminal charges for allegedly joining in an anti-Trump riot to attack supporters of President Donald Trump in March in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Authorities charged the 24-year-old Kaine with “fleeing police on foot, concealing his identity in a public place, and obstructing legal process,” according to a detailed Twin Cities Pioneer Press report. “When people seek to prevent others who are peacefully assembled from making their voices heard, it threatens the very foundation of our democracy,” a local attorney said Friday after the charges against Kaine and seven others were announced.

A Mar. 7 Twin Cities Pioneer Press report states that Kaine allegedly fought with police after being part of a group that threw a smoke bomb in a government building during a rally for President Trump.

“We love that our three children have their own views and concerns about current political issues. They fully understand the responsibility to express those concerns peacefully,” Kaine said, as reported by Breitbart News.

“Today’s announcement of misdemeanor charges against Sen. Kaine’s son contains no suggestion that he engaged in disruptive behavior while at the rally, but are instead focused on his actions as he was arrested after he left. Tim and Anne support their son and hope the matter is resolved soon,” she said to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
