Sen. Rand Paul assaulted in Kentucky home

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/11/04/sen-rand-paul-assaulted-in-kentucky-home.html

Sen. Rand Paul was assaulted inside his own home in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Friday afternoon, police say. He suffered a minor injury.

Kentucky State Police have arrested the senator’s assailant, identified as Rene Boucher, 59, of Bowling Green for intentionally assaulting Sen. Paul inside his home, causing minor injury, according to WBKO.com.

Boucher was arrested and charged with one count of 4th degree assault – minor injury. He was taken to the nearby Warren County Detention Center.

It’s not immediately clear what sparked the assault, but an investigation has been launched by local authorities.

Officials for Sen. Paul’s office say that the former presidential candidate did not suffer any major injuries.

"Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault," Kelsey Cooper, a spokeswoman for Paul, said in a statement to thehill.com. "The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police. Senator Paul is fine.”

Among those fired and/or arrested are the head of National Royal Guards, Miteb Bin Abdullah, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Adel Fakeih, and Admiral Abdullah bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Sultan, the Commander of the Saudi Naval Forces.

🇺🇸 **LEAK: Google Employees Defend Discrimination Against Conservatives**
<https://archive.is/NamI5>

A majority of Google employees have stated that the company culture has not improved since they joined the company, in an anonymous internal poll conducted shortly after the firing of viewpoint diversity advocate James Damore. In screengrabs of the discussion below the poll, one employee states a more specific concern: political intolerance.

2017-11-05 18:23:53 UTC

It was the employee’s comments about political correctness, however, that caused ire from his colleagues, one of whom suggested he simply leave the company.

2017-11-05 18:24:18 UTC

Another employee entered the conversation to reject the call for viewpoint diversity, telling his fellow Googler that he thought the company would be better off without him. “A culture which makes you feel uncomfortable is indeed making Google a better place,” stated the employee.

The attitude appears to reflect that of other Google employees, including managers, who openly called for supporters of James Damore to be fired and blacklisted in the wake of the viewpoint diversity controversy.

Later in the thread, a Jill Stein voter admitted that conservatives who complained about political discrimination at Google had a point. “The situation at Google is completely out of control,” says the employee. “Now the problems have leaked out into the press and I fear they are irreparably harming the company’s reputation.”

🇺🇸 **Kelly Ellis, Who Tweeted For President Trump's Assassination, Admits Collusion With Twitter Trust & Safety**
<https://archive.is/JL5rD>

Collusion at Twitter between abusive users & employees continues seemingly unabated — a recent admission showcasing such inherent problems within the corporation. Kelly Ellis, an e-celebrity of sorts within the tech industry, made semi-famous by past sexual harassment at Google — is once again in the spotlight of one-sided employee collusion at Twitter.

Ellis recently got into a short 3-Tweet argument with MicroChip™ regarding an ongoing campaign to hold Twitter accountable, where she indicated that she was making her friends on the Twitter Trust & Safety team aware, of him & the campaign.

2017-11-05 18:36:16 UTC

Undoubtedly, this is an admission of direct collusion with Twitter Trust & Safety — specifically. This is a rather grave conflict of interest, as Ellis previously indicated that she hoped U.S. President Donald Trump would be assassinated or die very painfully, yet received no suspension:

This type of speech is definitively against both the old as well as new Twitter Rules.

When these posts were Tweeted out by Ellis, she was being followed by Twitter Anti-Abuse (Support) Manager Alex Wu, which makes this a rather blatant example of double standards. Especially given now admitted direct ties to Twitter Trust & Safety.

Ellis later lied about being followed by Wu, despite him still following her as of this posting. Previously Ellis has also admitted to being in contact with Ed Ho, Twitter's GM, disclosed old messages between each other & vehemently complained that he wasn't doing enough to "protect her." Tweets.

🌐 **Paradise Papers: Tax haven secrets of ultra-rich exposed**
<https://archive.is/2UO66>

A huge new leak of financial documents has revealed how the powerful and ultra-wealthy, including the Queen's private estate, secretly invest vast amounts of cash in offshore tax havens. The leak, dubbed the Paradise Papers, contains 13.4m documents, mostly from one leading firm in offshore finance. BBC Panorama is part of nearly 100 media groups investigating the papers.

As with last year's Panama Papers leak, the documents were obtained by the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, which called in the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) to oversee the investigation. The Guardian is among the nearly 100 media partners involved in investigating the documents.

Sunday's revelations form only a small part of a week of disclosures that will expose the tax and financial affairs of some of the hundreds of people and companies named in the data, some with strong UK connections.

Many of the stories focus on how politicians, multinationals, celebrities and high-net-worth individuals use complex structures of trusts, foundations and shell companies to protect their cash from tax officials or hide their dealings behind a veil of secrecy.

🇺🇸 **Air Force Error Allowed Texas Gunman to Buy Weapons**
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/06/us/texas-shooting-church.html

A day after a gunman massacred parishioners in a small Texas church, the Air Force admitted on Monday that it had failed to enter the man’s domestic violence court-martial into a federal database that could have blocked him from buying the rifle he used to kill 26 people.

The conviction of the gunman, Devin P. Kelley, for domestic assault on his wife and infant stepson — he had cracked the child’s skull — should have stopped Mr. Kelley from legally purchasing the military-style rifle and three other guns he bought in the last four years. But that information was never entered by the Air Force into the federal database for background checks on gun purchasers, the service said.

“The Air Force has launched a review of how the service handled the criminal records of former Airman Devin P. Kelley following his 2012 domestic violence conviction,” the Air Force said in a statement. “Federal law prohibited him from buying or possessing firearms after this conviction.”

The statement said that Heather Wilson, the Air Force secretary, and Gen. David Goldfein, the Air Force chief of staff, had ordered the Air Force inspector general to work with the Pentagon’s inspector general to “conduct a complete review of the Kelley case and relevant policies and procedures.”

The Air Force also said that it was looking into whether other convictions had been improperly left unreported. “The service will also conduct a comprehensive review of Air Force databases to ensure records in other cases have been reported correctly,” the statement said.

http://www.fox5dc.com/news/local-news/secret-service-man-who-reportedly-traveled-to-dc-to-kill-all-white-police-at-white-house-arrested

A Dallas man who reportedly traveled to the nation’s capital for the purpose of killing “all white police” at the White House was arrested, according to the Secret Service.

The Secret Service says its Protective Intelligence Division was notified at around 2:55 p.m. Monday by the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland to be on the lookout for Michael Arega.

“Secret Service personnel at the White House immediately increased their posture of readiness and began searching for Arega,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

The Secret Service located Arega on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park where he was detained and arrested by uniformed officers at around 4:05 p.m., officials say.

Arega was taken to the Metropolitan Police Department where charges are pending.

The investigation is ongoing, the Secret Service says.

🇺🇸 **Democrats sweep Virginia, New Jersey governor’s races**
https://www.apnews.com/8e11e30b15f34728a81e50441848a537/Democrats-sweep-Virginia,-New-Jersey-governor's-races

Voters in Virginia and New Jersey gave Democratic gubernatorial candidates large victories Tuesday and sent a clear message of rebuke to President Donald Trump.

In Virginia’s hard-fought contest, Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam defeated Republican Ed Gillespie. In New Jersey front-running Democrat Phil Murphy overcame Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno to succeed unpopular GOP Gov. Chris Christie.

Northam rode to victory in part by tapping into voters’ regret at Trump’s victory in last year’s national election. Murphy had an easier pathway in New Jersey, where Guadagno contended with both President Trump’s and Christie’s unpopularity.

Northam, a pediatric neurologist and the state’s lieutenant governor, repeatedly tried to tie Gillespie to the president. His victory was in large part due to a surge in anti-Trump energy since the president took office. Democrats said they had record levels of enthusiasm heading into the race.

**Gillespie kept Trump at a distance throughout the campaign but tried to rally the president’s supporters with hard-edge attack ads focused on illegal immigration and preserving Confederate statues. They were not enough to block Northam’s path to victory.**

The wins in Virginia and New Jersey are a morale boost to Democrats who so far have been unable to channel anti-Trump energy into success at the ballot box in a major election this year.

Northam’s victory is a blow to Republicans, who were hoping that Gillespie could provide a possible roadmap for moderate Republicans to follow in next year’s midterm elections.

http://www.newsleader.com/story/news/2017/11/07/virginias-transgender-candidate-danica-roem-wins-house-race-makes-history/842596001/

A former journalist unseated one of Virginia’s most socially conservative lawmakers Tuesday to become the first openly transgender member of the House of Delegates.

Democrat Danica Roem, an experienced newspaper reporter, beat longtime Republican incumbent Bob Marshall in Tuesday’s election. The race was one of the year’s most high profile, drawing national and international attention and big money to the northern Virginia district outside the nation’s capital.

With her victory, Roem is set to make history as the first openly transgender person elected and seated in a state legislature. But her gender identity wasn’t a key part of her campaign. Instead, she focused on jobs, schools and northern Virginia’s traffic congestion.

On the campaign trail, Marshall and other Republicans repeatedly misidentified Roem’s gender.

Roem started pursuing therapy to begin her gender transition when she was 28. She said politics should be inclusive of all.

https://apnews.com/675f01bc4c514b0d98ef91b4950c0782/Texas-church-gunman-once-escaped-from-mental-health-center

The gunman who carried out the massacre at a small-town Texas church briefly escaped from a mental health center in New Mexico in 2012 and got in trouble for bringing guns onto a military base and threatening his superiors there, police reports indicate.

Devin Patrick Kelley was also named as a suspect in a 2013 sexual assault in his Texas hometown of New Braunfels, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) from the scene of the church attack.

The records that emerged Tuesday add up to at least three missed opportunities that might have offered law enforcement a way to stop Kelley from having access to guns long before he slaughtered much of the congregation in the middle of a Sunday service. Authorities said the death toll of 26 included the unborn baby of one of the women killed. Kelley died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he was chased by bystanders and crashed his car.

**Involuntary commitment to a mental institution would have been grounds to deny him a weapon provided that records of his confinement were submitted to the federal database used to conduct background checks on people who try to purchase guns.**

While in the military, Kelley, who was 21 at the time, made death threats against superior officers, according to the June 2012 report, which also mentioned the military charges. He was eventually sentenced to 12 months of confinement for the assault.

**The Air Force acknowledged Monday that it did not enter Kelley’s criminal history into the federal database as required by military rules, another way he could have been denied a weapon.**

🇺🇸 **Phil Murphy beats Kim Guadagno to succeed Christie as N.J. governor**
http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/11/murphy_beats_guadagno_new_jersey_governor_election_race_polls.html

Phil Murphy, a former Wall Street executive and diplomat with no previous elected experience but deep pockets and strong ties to the Democratic Party, beat Republican Kim Guadagno Tuesday to succeed Chris Christie as New Jersey's governor.

CNN, ABC and NBC projected the win for Murphy at 8 p.m. Tuesday as the polls closed. The projection was based on exit polling.

Murphy's victory over Guadagno, Christie's lieutenant governor, will usher in a new era of Democratic rule in the Garden State after eight years of Christie, a once-popular Republican who saw his approval rating plummet to historic lows in recent years.

Murphy, 60, will become the first Democrat in the governor's office since Jon Corzine, another former Goldman Sachs executive who spent millions of his own money to win the seat who lost re-election to Christie in 2009.

When Murphy is sworn in as the state's 56th governor Jan. 16, Democrats will likely control both the governor's office and the state Legislature for the first time since Corzine's four-year term. Legislative races have not been called yet, but Democrats are projected to at least hold -- if not expand -- their control of both the state Senate and Assembly.

Murphy -- a former U.S. ambassador to Germany -- will take over arguably the most powerful governor's seat in the nation, with the ability to line-item veto bills and the state budget and appoint state officials who are elected in other states.

He has promised to push New Jersey in a progressive direction, vowing to legalize and tax marijuana, institute a $15 minimum wage, and ramp up funding for education, public-worker pensions, and transportation, while protecting undocumented immigrants and fighting the agenda of President Donald Trump, a Republican.

🤔 **Richard Blumenthal concerned Trump may be colluding with China**
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/richard-blumenthal-concerned-trump-may-be-colluding-with-china/article/2639880

Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday that President Trump may be putting China's interests ahead of America's for financial gain, but did not address his own family's management of the Empire State Building, which like Trump Tower has a Chinese government-linked tenant.

In a call with reporters, Blumenthal said a Chinese bank renting space at Trump Tower in New York is illegal without congressional permission and may be influencing Trump's policy decisions.

“To be really blunt, an arm of the Chinese government is paying President Trump rent for his building, and last year as you all know China granted President Trump 40 trademarks,” the Connecticut Democrat said on a conference call.

“These approvals of trademarks closely followed the president’s abrupt decision as president to honor the One-China Policy, a reversal of his earlier position," he said. "Shortly after receiving those trademark registrations, President Trump flip-flopped on labeling China a currency manipulator.”

“As he travels to China, we’re left wondering, Americans are left wondering if President Trump is representing American interests or his own, and which he’s going to put first," he said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has been reelected to a second term in office.

Polls ahead of voting on Tuesday projected a sweeping victory for de Blasio, a progressive Democrat who was first elected in 2013. His Republican opponent, New York state Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis had long lagged behind de Blasio in the polls.

In his second term in office, de Blasio will be expected to push forward with a plan to offer free preschool to all three-year-olds, as well as forge ahead with an effort to preserve or create affordable housing across the city.

He will also continue to oversee an effort to close Rikers Island, the infamous New York City jail complex that has long been the subject of outrage and controversy for its poor conditions and mistreatment of inmates.

One of the black cadets allegedly targeted by racial slurs scrawled on a whiteboard at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School was responsible for the incident, Air Force Academy officials announced Tuesday.

Officials say the cadet admitted to writing the messages on the whiteboard outside the dorm rooms of five black cadet candidates. The cadet is no longer at the school, but a spokesman declined to say whether the student withdrew or was expelled.

The Air Force Academy launched an investigation after images of the graffiti began surfacing on social media in September.

The episode prompted a quick response by academy officials, including superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria, who gave an impassioned speech condemning racism.

The prep school is separate from the academy and helps promising students meet the academy's entrance requirements.

Others within Montgomery’s own company disagreed with him over Twitter, pointing out that many people, other than white nationalists, believe the day should be remembered.

“There are plenty of people who are not white nationalists who think this should be commemorated. Soviet oppression was real,” Miriam Elder, BuzzFeed’s world editor, noted.

<https://archive.is/KiKtR>

KING Salman is reportedly preparing to make his son Prince Mohammed bin Salman the ruler of Saudi Arabia in a shock move following a corruption purge, reports claim. The handover would follow the arrests of 11 princes and four ministers in an anti-corruption crackdown which has been referred to a power grab.

Billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal who holds stakes in Twitter and Citigroup was among those locked up when the five-star Ritz Carlton was transformed into a prison. Dozens of officials, business leaders and their families are being held in the luxury hotels with video emerging appearing to show them sleeping on the floor. News of the purge came in the early hours of this morning after King Salman decreed the creation of an anti-corruption committee chaired by the 32-year-old Crown Prince, who has amassed power since rising from obscurity less than three years ago.

The new body was given broad powers to investigate cases, issue arrest warrants and travel restrictions and freeze assets. The royal decree stated: “The homeland will not exist unless corruption is uprooted and the corrupt are held accountable.”

The news was followed by reports that Prince Mansour bin Moqren had died in a mysterious helicopter crash and reports that another prince had been killed in a gunfight that was later found to be false.

'Corey Feldman filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department. There is no further information at this time, and his report is being investigated,' a spokesperson told DaillyMail.com on Tuesday.

Just last week, Feldman revealed the identities of two alleged child molesters he claims took advantage of him and other adolescent screen stars years ago Feldman said on The Dr Oz Show last Thursday that his former assistant Jon Grissom was the first to take advantage of him in the 1980s, adding that the man still posts photos of him online.

'This guy on his My Space page and his Facebook page has got pictures of me and Corey Haim,' Feldman said during the interview. 'He still taunts it and flaunts it.' Dr. Oz then revealed that Grissom, who is now living in Mexico, has a long history of criminal behavior. 'Everything from assault, theft, drugs … in 2001 he was arrested on child molestation charges … he was found guilty in 2003 and served time in prison,' said an attorney forthe program in a video posted to Facebook.

Feldman also named former child talent manager and convicted sex offender Marty Weiss, who had revealed in the past.

🇺🇸 **NSA whistleblower told CIA director DNC leak was inside job, not Russian hack**
<https://archive.is/yPwPS>

CIA Director Mike Pompeo reportedly met with NSA whistleblower William Binney for an hour at CIA headquarters on October 24 at the request of US President Donald Trump. Binney disputes US intelligence claims over Russian hacking of DNC emails in 2016.

Binney is of the belief that someone "with physical access" inside the Democratic National Committee (DNC) leaked sensitive information during the 2016 presidential campaign, as opposed to a sophisticated hack perpetrated by Russian Intelligence.

Trump allegedly told Pompeo that if he “want[ed] to know the facts, he should talk to me,” Binney said, as cited by The Intercept. The Intercept interviewed Binney and at least two additional intelligence sources close to the matter for its report.

“I was willing to meet Pompeo simply because it was clear to me the intelligence community wasn’t being honest here,” Binney said. “I am quite willing to help people who need the truth to find the truth and not simply have deceptive statements from the intelligence community.”

Several outlets have described Binney's analysis as a "disputed," "fringe," or "conspiracy," theory (Washington Post, NBC, and CNN respectively) while failing to apply the same level of skepticism to the US intelligence community narrative, which has time and again been undermined, including in testimony by social media giants before Congress.

Pompeo has come under fire for cozying up to Trump in the past. In October, he said that "the intelligence community's assessment is that the Russian meddling that took place did not affect the outcome of the election."
