2018-05-11 04:17:04 UTC

my Suzuki Samurai buddy bought a Miata

2018-05-11 09:31:53 UTC

I was looking at one next to me in traffic yesterday, they are so small

2018-05-11 10:20:59 UTC

Yeah they're tiny

2018-05-12 04:17:43 UTC

Alright you faggots I am willing to exchange gun info and gun advice for auto info and auto advice.

2018-05-12 04:18:13 UTC

I want to know good options for utilitarian 4x4s that aren't trucks

2018-05-12 04:34:06 UTC

By not trucks, do you mean unibody as opposed to body-on frame?

2018-05-12 04:36:38 UTC

Other good questions would be how large you would like it to be, do you prefer NA/Japanese/European, how fast/fuel efficient you require, and what the initial and ultimate purpose are?

2018-05-12 04:37:36 UTC

also budget

2018-05-12 04:53:26 UTC

Ideally about tye size of a Jeep CJ, no preference on place, don't care about it being fast nor efficient, purpose is to have a trusty vehicle I can rely upon for heavy use as an utilitarian vehicle so driving on dirt, stones, small rivers that don't reach door level so I can pack up and go innawoods for shooting and hunting.
Budget would be 3000, 5000, 10000 USD, I want the best options for each price.

v8 4.0L with 182hp and 233 torque. 14mpg average. under $5k

2018-05-12 05:05:11 UTC

^Land Rovers have been favorites for overland expeditions for a while

2018-05-12 05:05:28 UTC

price of replacement parts might be an issue in the US

2018-05-12 05:05:38 UTC

yeah they have their issues too

2018-05-12 05:05:51 UTC

electrical issues as I recall

2018-05-12 05:06:10 UTC

yeah that's right. i couldn't remember what it was but yeah. that's the thing people mention

2018-05-12 05:06:41 UTC

but in that case you just get the most basic version you can, in the best overall condition

2018-05-12 05:07:29 UTC

for real. if the price range you're looking for @NotATF is really btween 3 and 10k you can get a """perfect""" condition one of these

2018-05-12 05:07:49 UTC

also worth looking into a toyota landcruiser, any year I believe

2018-05-12 05:08:17 UTC

the later ones are heavy and bad on gas, but are built like tanks

2018-05-12 05:08:44 UTC

just searched land rover for sale with lowest miles and found this

2018-05-12 05:09:24 UTC

idk shit about toyotas

2018-05-12 05:10:45 UTC

Here is a good site for people who take their trucks on long off and on road journeys:
https://expeditionportal.com/forum/

2018-05-12 05:11:33 UTC

Lots of good information on specific models and their suitability offroad, builds, interesting solutions to common problems, etc.

2018-05-12 05:12:19 UTC

2018-05-12 05:12:41 UTC
