their population has increased

2019-12-27 19:39:22 UTC

according to Alaska scientists

2019-12-27 19:39:30 UTC

Well, polar bears dont really decide the climate

2019-12-27 19:39:52 UTC

but they do support the warmer summers, colder winters theory

2019-12-27 19:39:55 UTC

just saying

2019-12-27 19:40:07 UTC

aren't polar bears moving further south to look for food?

2019-12-27 19:40:24 UTC

they are increasing as well

2019-12-27 19:40:31 UTC

adaptation and the shifting of the poles kind of helps expand their living space and in accordance, their population

2019-12-27 19:41:33 UTC

@E2D2 That wouldnt support the idea that we need to protect polar bears if they live better in the southern areas

2019-12-27 19:41:43 UTC

Since they adapt so well

2019-12-27 19:41:52 UTC

but I see your point

2019-12-27 19:41:54 UTC

👍

2019-12-27 19:42:43 UTC

When I meant south I meant lower than the arctic circle

2019-12-27 19:43:13 UTC

like the numerous reports in Russia about them moving into or past siberian towns that have never seen them

2019-12-27 19:43:20 UTC

im just asking: How is it possible for an increased population of polar bears to occur, while the ice is melting so fast?

2019-12-27 19:44:20 UTC

@luduma Some scientists believe that the Artic and Hot regions are shifting

2019-12-27 19:44:25 UTC

they don't solely live on the ice in the north pole you know that

2019-12-27 19:44:31 UTC

Like they did 2 million years ago

2019-12-27 19:44:46 UTC

but that's more of a theory

2019-12-27 19:44:48 UTC

They live in tundras and other relatively lower temperature areas

2019-12-27 19:46:07 UTC

they dont live there that much

2019-12-27 19:46:09 UTC

even then

2019-12-27 19:46:14 UTC

how can they increase

2019-12-27 19:46:19 UTC

they have always lived there

2019-12-27 19:46:28 UTC

now there is a decrease in ice

2019-12-27 19:46:34 UTC

and increase in polar bears

2019-12-27 19:49:36 UTC

Like I said, they have been moving further south in search for food for example. Polar bears have always moved between the arctic circle and tundra areas depending on the seasons in the northern hemisphere. They can still grow in population, its their food source that is shifting that is the concern with the polar bear pop. If your vision on climate change is focused on the increasing amount of polar bears there are, you might want to also look at the displacement of their main food sources rather than just the number of polar bears that exist.

2019-12-27 19:51:16 UTC

but why are they moving because of food? why is there more food there?

2019-12-27 19:51:58 UTC

my vision of climate change isnt focused on the polar bears amount

2019-12-27 19:52:31 UTC

Polar bears move *in search of food*

2019-12-27 19:52:44 UTC

> why is there more food there?

2019-12-27 19:52:59 UTC

yes that is what *you* said

2019-12-27 19:54:29 UTC

Im not saying every polar bear that moves finds the exact source of food they need or are getting their dietary requirements. For all I know they could be travelling south and eating whatever meat they find in those areas.

2019-12-27 19:54:48 UTC

never said that 😂

2019-12-27 19:54:53 UTC

quote me

2019-12-27 19:55:25 UTC

but why are they moving because of food? why is there more food there?

2019-12-27 19:55:47 UTC

thats your statement

2019-12-27 19:56:11 UTC

> Like I said, they have been moving further south in search for food for example.
That's your statement, which i was referring to

2019-12-27 19:56:42 UTC

ok? I still quoted your statement.

2019-12-27 19:56:52 UTC

wasnt a statement
